Kharaa Kill/death Count

It's not needed...
These kiddies playing aliens that are worried about their oh so precious kill/death ratio annoy me. Who cares if you die? Do it for the swarm!

Blah, blah, blah, Kharaa are more individualized so they need kill/death count. They are still a team, working as a team. Make them like the Marine team and take away kill/death count. I think it would be for the betterment of the game.

Either give both teams kill/death count or neither. I obviously prefer the latter.

Agreed. No scoreboard for the Khaara!

it's there to increase the deathmatchy style of the aliens. Just like the marines don't have it to improve teamplay. It's like that to help keep the game on track with the way it's designed.

Are aliens supposed to be deathmatchers ? i dont think so , they still need to work as a team , talk to each other, plan assaults together just like the marines , so i really dont see any point to having that scoreboard there . but thats just me ;p

hi there, yes they are, I know, trust me, look at the registration date, thanks.

Registration date of what? You? Pfft! Registration Date does not automatically mean ones opinion is somehow more valid. If that was the case mine would be more valid than yours as I registered before you did.

I like the alien scoreboard myself because aliens have a more... predator like feeling (not as in Predator from the movie, but as in predator/prey cycle).

    Hahaha, Gwahir.

    Remeber the "ntf_feature_noplayerscores" in NeoTF?

Thats gonna be on my server. No scores for anyone.

GG Gwahir. He's totally right, though. You saw the post earlier in the forums about some Fade who went 61-0 in a game! Aliens are about teamplay, sure, but there's also the absolutely yummy element of totally owning marines. I tend to go Lerk if my team doesn't need gorges; I've had many, many games where I simply don't die after evolving to Lerk, racking up 50+ kills over the remainder of the round. It's a nice feeling.

Once on NS_Nothing, I was on Aliens and as soon as we got our third hive up, I evolved to a Lerk and flapflapflapped my way into the vent right by the marine spawn. I found myself a small crack that wasn't covered by turrets and then umbra'd and began sporing like mad. Spawning marines were greeted with a giant gas cloud. Assisting marines retreated fast or faced death. I held off the marines in the base long enough for my team to evolve to Onoses and Fades, decimate any other marines and then come and destroy their base. It was awesome. We left a spawn point up for awhile and killed any spawning marine.

I found that I don't tend to care about the score as much. There are times that I can get a great ratio, but most of the time I'll gladly die as a skulk or whatnot. Hell, a careful and skilled Fade is almost unkillable. Still, I think it can be a little intimidating to show an alien going 9-1.

I don't call it a spawn point, I call it a meat dispenser

Usually, I go kamikazee skulk until the second hive is up, which usually puts me at the middle or bottom of the list... Once we have two hives, though, I go lerk and support the fades. If I was a good skulk in the early game, I'll have something like a 1.5:1 ratio, but I usually end up 1:1. Does this make me a bad alien? No, I'm there to support and sacrifice myself for the hive. Do I not like the scoreboard? Eh, I got no beef with it. It's nice to be able to track my kills, but I usually don't worry too much about it.

But you know who really gets shafted? Da kewt ickle gorges!

Agreed Eldritch....will mention that on ours.

Besides..one less thing to track means better pings...right?

Well, Edge, I don't think so. It's not really not that much data to send around extra.

Yeah, Coil, I have too had a really good game where I've gotten like 50:10 as a fade. And sure it's fun to hit tab and see your leet score, but I still kinda think it would be a better experience without the scoresheet.

Thank you coil. As for the bit about the registration date, I must note that I have been a very active member of the community and helped the newer ones until the release, then I took a break from the boards for a bit, due to too many useless threads, it's starting to be tolerable.
I kept up to date on the changes in the game so far as what was released and took part in discussions involving game issues, including this one several months ago.
I believe I have gained a fair amount of respect here, at least among the older members. And my crowning achievement, Flayra called me "Old Skool" indicating that I had served my time here and gained enough recognition. Thank you and good night.

That was 66-0. And it was me!

But lately I've been completely not caring about my score. Xenocide (on the few servers that it works on) is too much dang fun not to use.

And I realized something after enough deaths. Skulks were made to die. That's their purpose. By no means are they a backbone fighter meant to hold and gain ground. They are meant to kill one or two marines, then die. Then respawn, then repeat. And later on to Xenocide constantly.
Sure there are other uses. Like scaring the crap outta marines. And keeping them near their base, Parasite is awesome, yada yada.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind if the scoreboard were taken out. If you are killing tons of people, they know who you are from the death messages. I think perhaps the marine commander should be able to see who has the best kill/death ratio. So they can better decide who gets the HMG/nade guns. I think that makes sense, as a marine commander won't want to blow 29 rps on a HMG for a hero n00b whom I will certainly kill. They'd want to give it to someone who can use it effectively. And that's pretty much what the scores tell.

I love going lerk late in the game, when we're about to close in on the marines. Spores with adrenaline virtually ends respawning. I get about 20 kills in the last 5 minutes.

all i can say is SORRY, but i made a proggy recently with a scoreboard LOL. its also a little helper for the marines with some voice and say commands, once its finished im gonna release it, but i might remove the scoreboard feature and just keep it to my self, and if i make or join a clan, give it to them.

and also dont flame me here for it, if u dont like it then dont use it have a nice day

Well my NOVEMBER NOOB useless and worthless 2 cents is..

I am Neutral about the scoreboard, it can stay or it can go.

Yes I do get caught up sometimes with it, looking at my kamikazie death count go up, and thinking to myself self-conciously "jeez these guys are going to think im a noob" and I think "Did that last guy drop because he thinks hes on a noob team that isnt getting any kills. Then when going fade I do my darndest to get mad kills with no deaths, which is good for the team because its saving them resources. 75% of the time the scores mean zero to me, but I admit once and a while I watch it.

I consider the individual alien scores as being useful to see who's good to follow to the front lines of battle. Someone with a 53/14 score is almost certainly doing very well in combat, and could benefit from another Skulk to at least split up the marine bullet distribution.

Aside from occasionally determining who to follow into battle, I rarely ever look at individual scores.
