Game randomly disconnects and cannot reconnect. All other servers work fine.

Once in a while, let's say once every 2 hours of game play, the following happens:
Running a continuous ping, I see no hiccups in my internet connection during the time. Downloads keep downloading, internet music keeps streaming and I can see other servers in my NS2 server browser. At first I thought the server itself had crashed so I would simply look up another server. However, today, I managed to reconnect to the server I was playing on. The game was still going and all the other players had not experienced any issues.
It just looks like the server decided to drop my connection and refuses to let me in for a while. This happens on any normal unmodded public server. I do not think it is a specific server, but I am not sure.
Any ideas?
- All players stop moving and I am no longer allowed to interact with any entities.
- After about 30 seconds, the game drops back to the main menu saying that I was disconnected.
- I try to reconnect to the server. The loading screen pops up saying it is waiting for the connection to be established. After a few moments, I get dropped back to the main menu with some generic error message.
- All other servers work fine.
- After a couple of minutes, the original server allows me back in.
- People scold me for leaving the sack/chair mid-game :'-(
