Can't hear anyone else except for com on voice chat

Just bought the game and I have a problem. A huge one I guess I should say. When I enter a server, I can't hear anyone else other than the com, sometimes not even him. I've Googled this problem but the "press ESC, go to Sound, press ESC again" thing isn't working. Is there a way to fix this?
