Bad free weekend

Both servers i've tried have had troll groups showing off their aimbots and wallhacks. literally showing them off ruining the games. not fun.

Seems very unlikely that they were in fact hacking, it is way more likely that it was just veteran/competitive players trolling rookie servers, which is unacceptable of course. Just try a different server, I'm sure there's tons out there that will give you a better experience!

That's what i thought. Till they started giggling saying 'watch this' after recycling all the IP's and locking onto aliens through the walls

There do seem to be more obvious hackers out there this weekend, judging from my server alone. I think it might be hackers on sock steam accounts hacking and not worrying about bans with new steamids.

The population has fell so low that players are needed and a promotion should help.

Runtime error ctds, not being able to place clogs, minimal infestation not rendering properly, indestructible alien structures, fade shadowstep noise when going through phase gates.
Should of fixed some bugs before a free weekend imo.

And the amount of servers UWE have purchased seems ridiculous, if even half of them are used I'd be surprised. Wouldn't that money been better spent on a Steam ad? hm

Well you're quite the sunshine, aren't you?

As people can play it for free now, on a new steam account, the people that want to troll and hack get a free-pass. Unfortunately, there's no solution to this. There's too many servers to keep admins on at all times and UWE is already taking measures against the aimbots etc. - it's up to valve to update VAC.

Run into a server with bad people? Just go for another server - it's most often only a handful of players trying to ruin the game anyway, they can't be everywhere.

I can't speak for jekt, but it sounds like he is just frustratingly trying to say such obvious exploits and bugs could put off potential buyers from the free weekend

sju, the thing is most of these are at most minor annoyances. given the option to work on things that effect major portions of game play or those UWE has to pick. An errant sound on phase, having to jump to place clogs, or something looking bad in the lowest possible configuration is pretty minor in the long term.

Getting a 5-10% performance increase is time better spent. Sure, there is a crash bug out there. One that was first reported 2 days ago. It will get fixed. Probably in 244.

UWE is pretty small and they have a very ambitious game. If people want to get :bittervet: about the little stuff, that's their prerogative. I, for one, feel like the game is getting better over time.

i gotta say the bugs arent even annoying except the fade sound one. It scared the crap out of me a few times today. The rest are no more or less significant than you'd find in any other game really, im liking the way this game has turned out and unlike dice, or EA etc, Unknown Worlds is on the right track for their game You cannot say that for most other games out there

The weekend isn't over, hopefully it gets better for you... also this is to be expected what you are describing. There will always be idiots that take advantage of any situation any way they can. Just find a good community or admin patrolled server and your matches will be much better :)

He's not wrong about clogs. I don't mind the 1 second cool down, but the whole "green" placement is obnoxious. Kind of hampers the Gorge's ability to quickly set up defenses. Makes them far more reliant upon Skulks to buy time.

Well, there is a server side solution to the mess: vote kick.

As for the aimbots, I wish they'd also do something about the pistol/shotgun auto scripting. It's pretty obvious someone is using it when they are in the middle of reloading a shotgun and fire on a non-important structure across the room merely because their cross hairs went red. No veteran is going to interrupt their reloading of a shotgun to do basically no damage to an alien structure across the room when they know skulks are close. They're going to reload fully as they know they'll need the rounds. Risking death to do 1/20th damage to a structure? Not smart.

Also, trolls tend to run in crowds as they do it for their communal amusement. So it would make sense that if a server is full of trolls, that they aren't elsewhere.

Saw one funny hack today that I haven't seen before. This one marine, every time he was taking damage and not seeing who was damaging him, he would simply disappear. It happened 6 times just from me attacking him with spikes alone. And no, it was not beacon.

He probably just F4'd and rejoined.

Jekt, don't you think if it was possible to fix all bugs, it'd happen?
    It's not a choice, buddy, it's triage.

If there was a server variable to block greens from joining a white server, that might help deal with hackers using alt accounts on free weekends. Of course this solution causes its own set of issues.
