Gorge Tunnels too bright

Why does it seem like the gorge tunnels are more well lit than some powered rooms? Aliens have alien vision and do not need tunnel lights.
Underground tunnels should be dark, or at least poorly lit so that if marines do decide to go through the tunnel, they don't feel as at ease. They should feel like they are doing something very naughty and dangerous/risky.
