Particles become squares

Sometimes the particles like blood , turns into squares , black or green squares poping out as I saw, what is causing this? Server lag? Not enough RAM or memory? Graphic card failure? What could it be?
Here my spec
Window 7 32 bit
8 GB ram ( 3.49GB available) I used to using 64 bit . but after I reinstalled my window , I installed a wrong one , and now only can use 4GB ram, I am worry that is it 4 gb ram not enough?
graphic card , Nvidia Geforce 570 gtx
cpu : intel i7-3770k
harddisk: 1TB
I have no idea the game suddenly turn all particles into squares, and horrible lags occur, can someone explain this?
