Build 240. Gorge spit dramatically reduces my fps. Anyone else?

Uh-Oh

In build 240, as a marine, when I get spat on by a gorge, my FPS goes way, way down.
In build 239, the same scenario also dropped my fps, but not nearly as much.

Anyone else notice their FPS goes down the toilet when their screen is splattered by alien goo?

When this happens (have a friendly buddy help you reproduce it) type profile in the console (~ key) and then follow these instructions to capture the exact frame you see the greatest fps loss.

I'd just like to confirm that this issue is also happening to me in the latest Build, specifically when hit by George spit loose a ton of frames per second.

It also probably occurs in other situations, I think most likely related to particle effects.

I have a 3770K CPU and a 680GTX GPU, no performance issues from release prior to this particular update playing at max settings.

I have not captured any information with the profiler yet IronHorse but may do later.

May be related to these other threads detailing performance issues in this new build but the George spit one is the easiest to reproduce.
