Large performance drop.

Before the patch I would average 40-50 FPS on medium settings. After the patch on low settings I get 5-23 FPS. I am also stuck pre-caching for around 5 minutes it didn't take that long before usually only a minute at the most. I am also getting severe lag when I open menus now. What other information can I post to help out?

your symptoms resemble when a graphics card becomes unstable or overheats, then downclocks itself automatically resulting in a massive performance drop. Try a restart of your laptop this should put the gfx clocks back to default, if you are overclocking your gfx you need to put the clocks back to default. Performance decrease is not something I've seen in the new update so the issue is probably coming from your system somewhere.

I tried that. No change. I also ran several bench marks still get good fps on those. I booted up Bf3 and several other games they all seem to run normal. Perhaps NS2 pushes it harder then the rest.

When you start the game, hit the console key "~" does it say "nvidia gtx 560m" under render device?
Also have you ensured its in performance mode in the nvidia control panel?

Thanks IronHorse using your information I was able to find the cause of the problem. While it was using the correct render device for some reason after the new patch It was forcing the game to run in low power mode. Now can anyone tell me why the game takes so long to pre- cache normally but, If I alt-tab the game it finishes pre-caching in moments?
