Just How Immature...

<div class="IPBDescription">do you have to be?</div> Just "finished" playing a wonderful come back game for the aliens on ns_caged.

I was on "Team -=YG=- | Natural Selection | 1.02" server and after the initial semi-succesful rush half the team began to loiter around, giving excuses of 'protecting' gorges, some of which were still at the main hive.

No joke, it took us over forty minutes to get the second hive up inbetween paranoid gorges who wouldn't build unless they hadn't seen a marine for the last five minutes and team who all suddenly decided 5 gorges out of 9 players isn't so bad.

However we stuck it through and after climbing into an ingenious spot as a skulk I tormented the marines below in the auxillary generator with my newly evolved fade acid rockets until another fade and a lerk showed up and we just socked it to them.

A second lerk joined us and the two fade and two lerk combo devestated the generator hive defenses the set up and the resource collector base below. On our way to the marine base to cause complete and utter devestation while the evil hampsters... I mean gorges were going to secure the hive and make way for Onos time.

Then I saw the cheapest of all weapons.

The loading screen.

The admin or someone with rcon privaledges changed the map to bast.

Was it the only -=YG=- guy who was on the marine team who did it? Who knows. I know it's their server, and it's their right to do whatever they want to.

But that's just *@#$ing cheap.

If you can't take a loss, don't play.

I just want everyone to know, if you ever play on a VLP server you'll be garuntee never to experience petty crud like that. Ever.

[edit]
I can almost totally assure you that they did not have the resources to turret farm. We had one skulk that repeatedly kept sneaking into their base even after they had welded the vent closed, and resource collector attacking was what I was doing for that eternity between first and second hive.

And this is was caged: not eclipse with the doors that make the point blank turret farming so much more effective.

    I've had a similar expierence to this, and I know it sucks. It ruins the game for everyone playing if suddenly you see the loading screen and everything stops. I say you can't truely appriciate a good hard fought win if you've never gone through some tough losses.

    Ta Iden, new rant. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    People who join the alien team (which is usually undermanned anyway, most games I play the teams are ALWAYS 8v6 etc etc) then DON'T DO ANYTHING!

    They loiter, as Skulk, just meaning we're effectively more bugs down.

    (Sorry, spleen to vent, y'know how it is... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> )

    Once I was playing a game as Marines where we were jigging with skulks around the map. We all had jetpacks and shotties, and they were down to 1 hive. JUST as we completed a firebase outside the hive with 3 siege turrets (We had them all built to one stick thing left so we could finish the building at exactly the same time), the admin on the Aliens said "ok good practice restarting map" and restarted. I asked him why and he said "we were just practicing were gonna keep going until the marines r ownd baaad". At that point... I pressed Escape screaming "AHHH! ESCAPE! ESCAPE!"

    Heh Heh. You said it man. That had to have been the cheapest experience I've had. Though it could have been worse if they did it right before we destroyed the Command Console. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    well I don't know the whole situation, but it sounds like to me that after about an hour (maybe hour and half?) you finally turned the game around in the other direction. Well imagine how many RP the marines must have had. Imagine how many turrets were probably in their base. That game could have lasted 3+ hours. Most admins are smart enough to change map when games get that long and marines turn to "turret farming" in their spawn. I'm happy when they do it because it takes forever to bile bomb a marine base that has 50 turrets in it.

    Wot a complete loser who cant exactly take it or its either a server trigger itself for a restart or something
    someone felt it needed some kind of change coz it was F***ing up the server
    or someone changed map for the hell of it not knowing wot he was doing in the first place

    It is rather annoying if its in the middle of a good fight. If one side if already fully upgraded and its just a matter of time its still annoying and pansy-like, but at least they have a reason. I always fight to the bitter end myself. If you are commited to winning, even losing does not get boring, as long as they keep coming.

    Bah, I don't care how many turrets those marines set up... Two lerks, a fade, and a gorge can wipe out an entire base easily.... One lerk stays on umbra, one stays on spores (You can usually get a good angle to their inf portals), and the fade hits only the necessary turrets, then goes straight for the TF, while a gorge keeps defensive chambers as close as possible (Out of siege range if necessary)...

    Or, if you want to have fun, Onoses and Xenociding skulks.... Once the marines are pinned in their base, a good alien team can drop them within 15 minutes....

    Of course, a disorganized alien team can take 5 hours and still not bust through...

    Ah, Bob the Builder comms.

    The ones who you can tell the way the marines are going, by the 50 sentries at every corner.

    Oh god, those commanders make me ill no matter what team I'm on. It's the same retarded grimly-hanging-on defense-only mentality that I see on DoD on losing teams. The worst part is that they usually don't even understand how to use turrets effectively--they slap some in front of the door out of spawn and just let them sit there. They rotate for a REASON, numbnuts, we need turret support in hallway junctions where they can track and scan like they're 'sposed to.

    Once I countered this on ns_eclipse by gorging and building 3 or 4 offensers right in front of that door on their right with a few defensers nearby. A skulk runs up to trigger the door opening and 2 sentry guns take on 4 offense chambers with heavy reinforcement. Showed them a thing or two.

    Approximately 7.5 on the Immature Scale is essential...

    Gah, I had a retarted admin experience like that the other night. I was a marine on NS_Nothing, and after several different commanders, we had taken two of the hives, and were trying to fortify the second, but the current commander was completely new and had never done it before, so I hopped in the CC to get it over with. That was actually my first time commanding a winning team, and it was pretty fun.

    Then this alien admin starts spamming "END IT NOW, PRESS F4" over rcon. After like 5 minutes of that, he takes a vote on who wants to change the map, while the server owner is telling him NO over rcon. But he just ignores it. The aliens win the vote 2v1, and it restarts.

    I was so, freakin, **obscenity**.

    The admin got his rcon revoked temporarily afterwards, but gah.
