Steam "lost" NS2

This is probably more steams fault than NS2.

I wne to launch NS2 from my shortcut. Steam asks if i want to install NS2.
I check my steam library. NS2 is still favorited but no installed.
I go to NS2' folder. Everything is there. I launch the NS2 exe. Everything works, player name is correct, but options and keys reset to default. And apparently I'm a rookie again.

I think the answer lies somewhere in the steam cloud/cache thingy???

Anyone know how to fix?

    This is common if Cloud is either down for a brief moment, in the middle of syncing, or is currently stuck while syncing when you start a game up. The easiest thing to do in this case is just to restart Steam and it will get Cloud re-established again.

    I once had NS2 disappear off my steam list. I decided to go through with installing it again and while doing so steam recognized I had the files and added it to the list again. Just try going through with the install.

    Interesting, restarting steam had no effect. But "installing" NS2 was an effective fix. Steam, go home, you are drunk.
