Mod ain't working when downloaded through Workshop

Hi, created a mod that increased marine backwards walking speed to be the same as walking forwards.
It works fine if I launch the mod separately through a shortcut. I was able to create a listen server and walk backwards at the appropriate speed.
However, if I publish the mod, subscribe to it, and then try to use the mod on my listen server as before, it appears that the server is actively limiting my backwards walking speed to pre-mod status. It keeps rubber-banding me to force me to stay at the "slow" speed.
What needs to be done to get it to work?
