How would CPU overclocking improve my fps?

I have a AMD Phenom II X4 810 2.6Ghz CPU and I read that it CAN be overclocked up to 3.6Ghz with a stock fan (not in my case, because it's at ~55-60°C stock with no load at all). So by how much would my fps improve if I added 1Ghz to my cpu? I, obviously will need a better cpu fan.

    30 - 50% ?
Reaching to 3.6 would help immensely towards maintaining a relatively stable fps in any sensible round.

im using a phenom II x6 1055T (stock 2,8) oc to 3,4 ghz. if you oc you should always get a custom cooler (imo).
and i get around 30-40% more fps ^^

Quite simply shit load. If you can, try disabling 2 cores if your mobo allows and overclock to as high as you can. My previous system was a phenom X2 550 (stock 3.1)

I could overclock it to 3.2 with 4 cores (mobo could unlock cores). Or 3.6 with 2 votes. 3.6 was probably 10 fps up on a fraps graph.

    1ghz would be visibly noticeable.
