Back on topic: I don't know, have been wondering the same since I arrange my hydras in lines quite often.

BUT I know hydras will shoot through very very small spaces in between clogs, so they just need to be in LOS with the target, no matter by how much.

Yes, if they are within each others hitbox. Have you not placed all 3 hydras on a clog and dropped another clog on top of that, making a secret hydra pillar?
