____/About the Guide/____
I have been making random strategys here and there since NS released, I decided to put it all together in a comprehensive guide while going over the basics and advanced missed in previous versions. I plan to update this guide as time goes on frequently. The ToC is what I have planned now and may be added to or subtracted from at any time. Please do not copy my hard work without proper credit/requests.
Feel free to Private message me at any time for in depth help about any subject
Why am I doing this guide? Because frankly I like helping new players and vets alike out. Spreading how to play the game properly will only increase enjoyment factor for every one.
The current hardest race to play is marines, do I plan to go into there tactics and complexity soon? Yes I do, I plan for it to be the next appendix of this guide. I am also planning on a "actuall" health chart as I like to call it for every evolution/armor upgrade

Hello, first I would like to say, I'm and addict
::clapping in the background::
Yes, yes, I have come to terms with my addiction to NS. There is one thing however I cannot come to terms with, its the seesaw we like to call RTS games. One side or team will allways be more powerfull then the other from vastly to slight, it will allways be. DEAL WITH IT. I'm sick of people saying "its impossible to win as marines, or in the last patch aliens. I'm sick of people saying "This game is completely 100% balanced. Im sorry if this offends anyone or the PT's feel like 6 months is actually enough time to achive complete balance with 2 uniqe bases races and totally different style of play, but it will never happen. Look at star craft, the races are more similar to each other in that, and its still unbalanced after, how long? Allthough its pretty balanced it cant reach completely so ever. Dont expect NS to be after a few months.
____/Part One/____
With all this being said, teams will never be fair, how can we still -win- at both? Well look at it this way, the winner will be the team that communicates and uses the tools IT uniquley and widly has availible in the most creative, adaptive way.
What is the best way to start developing this set of skills involving critical thinking while also paying attention to the action. Yes I know thinking tacticly is hard when you gunning down a fade, or leaping on to somones head, but it is somthing you have to learn and develop as time goes on. Here are some tips to get you started,
Play both teams! Allways choose random. The well rounded player will win more often in this game then somone who only knows how to think as a skulk. If you are a skulk, you have to know what the marines are planning, you have to know the options, you have to be equally efficient with both races to know how to counter somthing and what to expect. A good marine knows where a skulk would be hiding, knows where to watch, knows what passages are most frequented, can tell what hive the aliens residates in just from the rush, why? because for the last 2 rounds he was one. You won't do good if you only play one race, you won't be able to comprehend every thing with just one race, the key to winning this and every other RTS is adaptation.
Know the maps, not only do you have to know every race class and weapon, let alone play as them, you have to do it on every map. Lets say if your marine and you see an alien run past the corridor, you shoot at him, he dissapears on to the other side. About 5 seconds later he emergaces through a vent and makes lunch out of you and your 4 buddies who where in ignorent bliss. What just happend? It was a flank, but if you know this is happening you can stop it.
Surround sound, Ah yes, one of the easiest ways to improve your performance quickly, head phones. I know I know I didnt belive expert gamers telling me this when I first started, I had two speakers and got a vauge idea where the enemy was, as I have realized vauge isnt good enough, on any level. Knowing your enemy can only go so far. Let me give you a few examples, on eclipse as a skulk I sit in my hiding spot by the door happily protecting the horseshoe side entrence from any marine that whishes to proceed, I hear the other door open. With the speed of the skulk I'm able to intercept the marine party that was just launched. Im walking down a hall and hear the noisy marines walking down, I listen for them, look around untill I can pinpoint there exact direction and lay a trap. You dont have to have parasite to tell you where they are, we have 5 senses for a reason. Surround sound is also indisposable as a marine. You have no IDEA how many times I have heard a skulk running up to me from behind, whipped around and shot him. Allthough aliens DO have the abbility to loose all movement sound, I have yet to see one do so. Marines and aliens have very distinct movement sounds that you should learn to pinpoint while playing.
Adaptation, This is probably as importent as everything else I have said combined. Yes it helps to know what your enemys options are so you cant think up counter meassures. Yes it helps to know where they are movin and what direction there closing in on, yes it helps to know the map, but if you cant addapt to it all, its usless. Say your command center is being constantly attacked by skulks, they are relentless, there entire team keeps charging strait to that chair, they have a lerk in the vents shooting your turret factory and is out of angle to be hit by a marine. Well guess what? while there busy annoying you there leaving the rest of the map open. MOST marines I have seen respond to this tactic by turtling, well I can tell you the only thing staying in your base will do is give you a long death. You should move to take a dual RP nozzle room and construct a base there. If the aliens are going all or none on your home there is nothing preventing you from taking a new one and continuing to lock down hives as they rattle away at your defenses. Of course you should leave 1-2 people diverting the aliens attention and keeping your current base in check, once again it all depends on adaptibility.
In short, use what weapons are availible to you, your mind your experience your ears and your knowledge.
