Ns2_Glacier [WIP]
Hello everyone. I am MonoCloud and I am new to many things. Some of these things include mapping/modding and posting on forums. So please be kind when posting.
So. Since the Xmas updated I have noticed a sever lack of ice levels in the mapping community. Being Canadian, with the crazy unique winter we have been having lately, I decided to change that. Because I am still very new to map making I am not sure how this will turn out. Suggestions and constructive comments are always welcome.
I have some rough ideas on the layout but I am not quite sure. I have looked at the mapping guide lines and I am thinking about using a somewhat modified diamond layout with 7 RTs and 5 Tech-Points. Other suggested layouts are welcome.
Here is where I am at so far. I have only done the basics of the marine start and a walkway.

sounds like a cool idea! I really like idea of transitioning from a blocky/tech marine environment to hollowed out ice tunnels.
My advice would be to get a small room or hallway and detail it to a near finished state, its a really good way to learn the editor, some tricks and quirks of the editor to get things done quickly as well as learning what is in the art set to give yourself an idea of what you are able to achieve visually.
Then of course greybox your rooms so that you have enough detail in each to allow for some interesting gameplay.
Also maybe consider a smaller sized map, i think its better to have a smaller sized map that gets finished.
It looks nothing like your map, but it is going to be nice and white
