Flamethrower vs Gorge

I've tried several times to kill Gorges with FT and, to my surprise, I've noticed how easily they can outlive a full fuel tank, forcing me into reloading.
Most of the times I had a JP too, so I didn't have accuracy problems, I was shooting it 100% of the time with great accuracy (gorges are fat and slow).
Does anyone else feel it's... wrong?

EDIT: I guess I should post a real response... I don't particularly think Flamethrowsers are that strong of a weapon against lifeforms. I would consider them more of a support/utility weapon, because of their increased damage to structures (x3), and cysts and clogs (x5), and their ability to disperse gas. Their damage against lifeforms is rather weak (stacks up to 60dps, if I did my math right).
Yea I knew that... I guess that's the problem: the stacking damage always gets resetted by heal spray I guess.
Oh, that explains it. In that case, they're hardly taking any damage since a self heal will clear the Flame stacks.
people up there ain't got no gold
so they gots to make a living,
killing the baby Gorges.
Roast 'em toast 'em rototill 'em
Kick 'em in the head until they squeal
that's the way we make a living
killing the baby Gorges.
