<div class="IPBDescription">as the title says</div>is there any reason to not unlock fov settings (at least up to 130) in the settings menu?

i would love to play with 130, or at least the 120 from gold source would be nice :)!!!

/edit/ i meant something more powerfull than just adjust fov
first i wanna see numbers ;) and second i want to use higher values than 80-100

    Is there not already an option? I know that I can change my skulk fov in the settings.

    He wants the game to go to 120/130 FOV, currently the slider maxes out at somewhere in the neighborhood of 110, I think.

    There are different FOVs for different life forms / classes. While you can increase an offset of all VOFs in the option menu, there is a reason why an Exo has a smaller FOV than a skulk. So think for yourself why it isn't supported to go over a set value with it.

    well, when talking about realism: i dont wany my natural 180° on the screen guys ;)

    i just want to be able to push it a bit more, to go 130 as rine,...

    but if that means 140 as skulk, woha, i think i would stick with 120 as rine than :D

    Obligatory link to my thread explaining <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=121517http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=121517" target="_blank">FoV in NS2</a>.

    Quick explanation is that the FoV is different for every class and the slider allows to you increase it by 20 for each class. Here is the max FoV you can get for each class.
    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Default/Marine= 110
    Embryo = 120
    Skulk = 125
    Gorge = 115
    Lerk = 120
    Fade = 110
    Onos = 110
    Exo = 115<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Also, I find that the higher FoV distortion effect starts to kick in at around the 135 mark. I don't doubt that you can get used to some of it, but I expect there to be diminishing returns past that point.

    thx for the info

    i already knew that, but was to self concentrated to post it for the others...

    5-10° more would be perfect for me i guess

    What's the console command for fov...?
  • derWalterderWalter Join Date: 2008-10-29 Member: 65323Members
    i guess there is none, but even if there is one,
    it would make it an hack and therefore just accessible
    for ppl who know it.

    to avoid this barrier i asked for implementing it
    to the main menu.

    The FoV slider was implemented as a sort of compromise position between people who wanted an adjustable FoV and those who thought it was cheating afaik. You can adjust your FoV, but you can't set it to an absurdly low or high value. Personally, I'd like to be able to adjust each FoV such that I could set them all to the same value (having different FoV for different classes seems odd to me since FoV is a function of screen width and viewing distance, neither of which changes based on class).

    well, that is also an cool idea.

    something like ADVANCED OPTIONS

    where you can do all that stuff that
    competitive players want.

    i play ns2 not for looks, but for mechanics and community.
    so it should be a step forward in every aspect of the game.
