New Update makes the game more unoptimized?

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed that the new update dropped the fps? I noticed it is a lot more stuttery now and in some areas of maps it would actually freeze the screen if you stand in certain spots with an exo and fire.

I have a i5 2500k @ 4.5 ghz and GTX 670. This is the only game where fps would drop to a crawl. I don't know if it has to do with Nvidias newest driver updates or if it has to do with the NS2 Jan 16 update. I had no problems the previous update because everything seemed to run smooth.

Edit: If anyone else has this problem, can you name what version of drivers you are using? I am using 310.90

Well I keep track of frames every update and I lost around 4-5 this one. Well to be more precise the game's frames just seem to drop a lot earlier now than it used to. Usually the framerates during every patch remains the same. A few have reported issues too and I think it is related to the infestation code that is sort of bugged/glitched at the moment. I've used the same drivers too since 235 and everything was fine there so it is not just you. I also get that stuttering/jittery gameplay you describe. Cannot go back to 235 but things felt a lot smoother. Now it's like mid game is jittery. It'll probably be fixed next patch maybe.

I'm actually making backups of NS2 from now on so I can check the differences in code and possibly link this to FPS drops.

To bad I havn't got a copy of previous versions else I could maybe link the 5fps drop you have to pieces of code.

Previous versions (up to B227) are archived as zip files in your \natural selection 2\builds\ folder. Though, its of limited use since its hard to accurately stress NS2 with one player (the closest I've gotten is adding like 20 bots to the server and then benchmarking).

Changes from 235 to 237 (236 is no code changes just a crash fix in the spark engine) in lua code.

    BileBom.lua: Gramar fix
Commander_Server.lua: Commander tech research code improvements (will not affect performance)
    NS2Gamerules.lua: monitoring fix?
PlayingTeam.lua: Keep track of total res gained during a round
ServerSponitor.lua: More json stats on server (minplayer, maxplayers, avgplayers, avgrookies, totalresmined)
Team.lua: Keep track of amount of rookies
TechTree_Server: Stuff to check if a research is queued (maybe upcomming update?).

As far as I can see there are not changes to the LUA code which could in any way affect performance from 235 to 237. Performance los (if it's there) can only occure because of either enginge changes or map changes (e.g. increased object amount).

    234 to 235:
This build contains far more changes then 235 --> 237. I guess this actually could have effect on FPS but it is rather to tell this without a really detailed analysis (which I wont do with this old build but will probably do with a new one).

The zip files are not reliable. build_235.zip still doesn't contain build 235.
