Can´t play alien!

Yep, a little rant!

Played six rounds today and all the players are stacking up aliens like ######. Almost all matches it was 4 marines against 8 aliens. Some rounds however were balanced with the same playerbase but every new match start the same people joined up aliens so no marine could play aliens themeselves.

That´s just bull######! For me this game is dead with pub people, only playing with my mates in the future (so we can only manage to get 2 vs. 2, but hey, still better then pub bull######!)

The spawnprotection system is crap, because nobody changes teams, they are just leaving the game.

So for the sake of god: Implement a mode were the teams change automatically after the round ends!

Oh and by the way: None of my recent games ending by killing the other hive/CC, just the vote or leaving ended the whole damn misery.

It sounds like you found the Mos Eisley spaceport of NS2 servers.

Don't let a series of bad games spoil the fun you can have with this game.
I know, what you describe can be a real issue, I myself had a few evenings ruined because ppl would leave and a game couldn't be played out to the end. I'm not so sure with the stacking though, it used to be the other way around, you couldn't join marines as they got stacked. Might have changed lately...

Just change servers until you find one with a stable and balanced crowd, not always possible but sometimes it helps.
I'm not too keen on the idea of auto-scramble since I myself always go for aliens and don't really enjoy playing marines. Again: try to find a server where ppl switch sides regularly or where teams are balanced.

You could also try to play at gatherings (or whatever they are called).
I joined a steam group and we have weekly game sessions. That works really well for me and if you are already 4 ppl, you shouldn't have a problem filling up a server with a few more ppl from a steam group.

I much prefer playing aliens, so I'll admit to spamming j2 in the console so I can get the alien team the instant someone goes marine. Regardless, my experience is that people for whatever reason seem to prefer marines anyway unless aliens have been dominating the server, so aliens are actually the underpopulated side.

I hate this use of the phrase "team stacking". Team stacking is where high skill players all stick to the same team, making for a very uneven match. The auto team balance prevents uneven numbers from greatly affecting gameplay, 10 v 6 will still play out fairly thanks to it, even if no one ever joins the small team. If anything, the odds tip in favor of the small team because pres gets spread out among the large one.

I would like to see some kind of match game mode as the primary mode of play for servers. Having exactly the same teams play one side and then the other and then taking the wins together makes for a fair game regarding side balance.

Nope, harvester count is the only factor affecting pres gain. Apart from being dead. I think.

Anyhow, no res overflow, no res spread.
