FPS cap while using fraps, even with "limit fps.." unticked
am I forced to record movies at 50-60fps to avoid FPS capped?
I've tried many different things (forcing vsync, disabling vsync from drivers and game settings)
nothing works. as soon as I join to the game, fps is capped @30 (its 60at readyroom, like vsync turned on)
right now Im recording movies @50fps but this isnt solution. Can anybody help me please? thanks.

By default the FPS isn't capped, it is only capped if you indeed use V-Sync (based on monitor refresh rate) or maxfps X in the console.

I mean I have fps between 70 and 100 while gameplay, 130-140 at readyroom. I have nothing on to limit the fps. But soon as fraps recording starts, fps is capped to 30 even theres option at fraps "limit fps to recording fps" which is unticked and I can record other games fine while playing at high fps. only NS2 does this, other games are fine. what am I doing wrong?

Well NS2 is CPU dependent, but if it is a constant 30FPS then Fraps is doing something weird indeed... However you do have to expect at least a small drop in FPS when recording. I haven't used Fraps in a while now with DXtory simply being more awesome in terms of options. You could try some other programs for testing purposes to see if they also do this. Btw what are your specs?

    i5 2500k @4.5ghz
    8gb ram
    hd 5850 @ 920mhz gpu 1200mhz mem
1080p display and I got game textures on medium becouse of 1gb memory on my graphics card. I have tried different catalyst drivers to solve this fps cap while recording also. Thanks for advice I will try dxtory. Maybe that will solve this.

edit: and performance isn't an issue. I can set fraps recording fps to 50 or 60 and problem solved but I got limited drive space, 60fps raw recording eating up crazy space. I just want to record 29fps vids while having usual 60fps. Im gonna check dxtory like you said (tomorrow hopefully) I keep reading very nice posts about that program.

This happened to me. It confused me at first because I thought the same key to record with Fraps was the slow-motion key in NS2 demo playback lol. But I figured out that Fraps was limiting Frames to 30 and in the game I was getting 60+. Hence giving it a slowmo effect when recording. I just changed the Fraps FPS closer to what my in-game FPS was and it fixed the issue.

The FRAPS "don't limit FPS" thing doesn't seem to work very well for lots of games.

thanks for replies guys especially Kouji_San becouse dxtory is WAY ahead of any kind of recording and here let me show you a video:

    dxtory 565mb ingame render

while ingame (I have tried it later on 24player server) performance hit is almost NONE. This is amazing really. technique I used to try is just a caveman tech compared to this. record a game while having no performance hit, also small on disk, looking good 1080p. amazing.

now if anyone is interested I will share the program settings
