Bile Bomb getting stuck

mid-air or above ground or on friendly Kharaa
Sometimes, when I try to spit bile bombs at enemy structures or even enemies, they simply get stuck mid-air and float or explode there. Or they get stuck at their target location and float idly above the ground, and most times when they actually explode in that case, they do no damage at all.

It seems to occur more often if another friendly unit such as an Onos or Fade run in its way before it reaches the target location. The bile then shows multiple weird behaviors such as floating in the air, getting stuck at the friendly unit or dropping to the ground after a short while.

Technically, for the case where it simply floats mid-air or above the ground without a friendly unit in-between, I would say that the physics system put the bile to sleep so that it does not get simulated anymore (taken into account that bile actually makes use of the physics system).

I wonder if someone has encountered the same problem as I could not find anything about this with forum search.

If bile bombs are exploding on top of you, you are on a ######ty server and you need to leave that server. This only happens when you have sub20 tick (standard is 30 tick)

This happens to me daily. I just got added to the play test group so I'll be sure to report this tonight. For me it can pause in mid air or bounce off the structure and hover a foot away from it. The bile won't explode until another bile bomb hits it.

Out of curiosity, what are your CPU specs? I am running around 20 fps when this happens so I was wondering that has any thing to do with it.

EDIT: Shino - Didn't think to look for server tick rate but as I play 99% of the time on official servers I don't see them drop below 30 very much..ill still check that out though

    Thanks

I actually reported it for fast servers, as I tend to leave ones that lag before I get the chance to play as gorge.

As for my cpu, I have an i7 740QM if that helps.

I generally have good fps, and it rarely drops down near 20 even at crowded places. But I noticed that this also happens with high fps (40 or more after the r_stats window) when the game feels pretty fluid.

It has absolutely nothing to do with your FPS. Type "net_stats" in console and just watch it. I guarantee it will be less than 20 if bile bombs are exploding in your face.

I never said it explodes in my face. I said they get stuck on a few occasions, whether it being mid-air away from me or at the targeted location.

The fps was an answer to a previous question before that one got edited.

And the tick rate never goes below 34 on average at crowded scenes with multiple marines and Kharaa. When I spit bile at enemy stuff, it was above 30 ticks, so I can assume that bile that gets stuck mid air is not normal and has nothing to do with my computer.
I also stated that I play on servers with good performance and good ping, and taking into account how responsive the game feels on a particular server before choosing to play on it.

Furthermore, I also avoid modded servers as a friend of mine can't connect to servers that run mods, so it should not be a mod that interferes here.

All servers are supposedly 30tick. Never going below 34 tick means that you have no idea what you're talking about.

Coincidentally, for some reason even giant ###### dumpster servers are 100% performance, making the performance indicator very useless. Modded servers have nothing to do with it either.

I've had them bounce back into my face before lol

Oops, my bad I looked at the Client Tick rate which goes up to 60. Sorry for that.

And I know that slow servers most of the time indicate 100% performance, so I said I try to judge how playing feels and ask my friends how they experience the server performance before we decide to play on it for a few rounds.
I also tend to stick to servers I knew that had good performance before and that is were I first noticed the bile getting stuck. I will verify the server tick rate next time i play on them, it just feels strange that bile can get stuck at awkward positions.

I too have seen some pretty wacky behavior with bile bomb personally. Generally attribute it to my 56k "30Mb/sec" cable company.
