<div class="IPBDescription">I couldn't find the bug report forum!</div>As a commander, if you queue up another item too quickly, the game eats your resources.
This is the most noticeable with creating ARCs. The ARC creates, the buttons light up, the buttons grey out, the ARC comes out of the factory. Then the buttons light up again and you can proceed as normal.
If you click anything on the robotics facility, the resources will be eaten and nothing will happen. The buttons grey out, the ARC comes out, and then the buttons light up.
I have the most trouble with the hive and this. Crag hive finishes, you're looking at your map so you press C. Shade hive starts, you cannot cancel it. If you let it finish, you don't actually get the shade upgrade (You also cannot get it for the entire game after this)
In competitive games, an example common build is immediate crag hive (-10), shell (-10), Regen (-10), Cyst (-5), Harvester (-10). Imagine if you do Crag (-10), Accidental Shade that doesn't do anything (-10), Shell Regen (-20) --> You can't afford a harvester. You are now stuck on one harvester, which is a pretty big deal.
If you need more simple to make reproductions, click on a hive and spam your A button. You will notice that you will lose a lot more resources than you should have. You'll make two drifters and realize you used 9 resources.

really?

I'm guessing this fixes the problem with, for example, shade being unresearchable (and thanks for figuring out how to duplicate that; it happened to me in beta, and I couldn't figure out how).

Presumably, this will also fix other uses, like drifters at a hive.
I guess there's one way to find out for sure...
