Random Disconnecting

There are many posts debating this problem, however, the solutions provided are obsolete or do not work.
The disconnects for me are random, nothing seems to spark it. I can be playing a game for sometimes 5 minutes, and other times hours. Additionally, the game seems to be cutting out my internet entirely, not just the game itself.
Here are some solutions I've already tried:
- Verifying integrity of game cache
- Running the game as Admin
- Running the game in real time priority
- Setting game server browser: max pings/ minute to 250
I've knuckled it down to a potential router problem, flood protection for example. Is there any other solution to stopping this other than switching the flood protection/Firewall off?
> I should also state that I'm using a Netgear router, not a Thomson as some people have been having issues with.
EDIT: Seems to be cutting the internet out from my computer only, not the entire house.
