Cannot see anything in game

I just got this game and when I start a explore game i can't see ANYTHING except the alien and marine team indicators in the room you start in. I think I can move, because when I move my mouse the circles move too. Also, not sure if it's related or not, but after I installed the game, a .exe file with 4 random letters or so popped up. I didn't run it, thinking it was a virus. I really hope it wasn't important....

That's a cache problem, delete whatever is in your cache folder whose location should be the following: C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Natural Selection 2\cache

    Or related to Anti-Aliasing (<a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=123232&hl=invisible+textures" target="_blank">thread</a>)

I am having this problem as well I cannot see anything in game except for the two marine and alien circles when I first join. I have tried re downloading, deleting the cache folder, my anti aliasing is set to application controlled and my drivers are up to date. Im not sure where to go from here on how to fix this problem.

Someone elsewhere told me to run the set up, and I asked how but was never given a reply. If you guys could tell me that'd be great.

"The setup" ? , There's a dxsetup file in your "redist" folder that's in your ns2 install folder?
But hard to diagnose what's going on without logs or dxdiag. Please see stickied threads for steps on how to provide those so we can assist further. :)

i had the same problem, reinstalling didnt help, then i remembered that i changed some settings in the ati control center for skyrim > changed them back and i could see again. the settings i had where: aa: 4x ;; af: 16x ;; catalyst a.i.: full ;; mipmap: quality ;; v-sync: on ;; adaptive aa: quality

the now working settings: aa: from application ;; af: from application ;; catalyst a.i.: off ;; mipmap: quality ;; v-sync: from application ;; adaptive aa: off

i didnt go back and check which change did the trick, im just happy it works and hope it might help someone.

EDIT: after reading the AA thread im pretty sure thats it.

Ok... ati control center? i...don't know.
If you need info on my graphics card it is an NVIDIA. I haven't changed anything major to it that might change gameplay at all recently.

    Virelen,

The log and dxdiag stuff is here:

Please provide UWE with information, do the following (ripped from here):
Attach or post a DXDIAG information log file, this provides UWE with your system specs, driver and OS info:
Click on your Windows Desktop Start menu.
In winXP you want to find "RUN", in Vista/7 you want the search bar at the bottom of the menu.
Type in DXDIAG and hit Enter
A window pops up, Either a Diagnostic will auto run or you need to click on a button: Run DxDiag now ~something similar to that.
When the progress bar is done, Click on the "Save All Information" button, you can either copy paste it to the forums or post it into a website such as http://www.pastebin.com and post the link here on the forums.

Attach or post the contents of the NS2 "log.txt" file, this contains useful error messages for the UWE devs:
To get to the file, press windows key + R, fill in "%appdata%\Natural Selection 2", hit enter.
You can either copy paste it to the forums or post it into a website such as http://www.pastebin.com and post the link here on the forums.

In terms of as an NVIDIA setup I grabbed teh first link off of google, so try this

Try to end up with as much as you can application controlled.
