Voice chat settings and test?

Is there a way to test your voice chat settings/hear yourself? I'm talking in games and I feel like my teammates cannot hear me. I can't seem to find voice chat options anywhere in the game. What is the default microphone that is selected? My setup works for Skype/Ventrilo/Teamspeak/Mumble just fine.
