OMG no com

No one who should read likely this will. But rant:

A person who goes commander usually has a plan. A *good* plan lasts 10 seconds of combat. But you never 'switch' plans, that is call retreating (or: attaining a better firing position).

So in NS2, when someone 'jumps in the chair,' then as the plan goes haywire the com jumps out to build at spawn or put up hydras/clogs etc, then someone else 'jumps in the chair,' I would say that is bad etiquette.

Personally, I would join the other team or leave.

The worst is when you're going for a fast hive+leap strategy, ask somebody to gorge and build the hive, and nobody does, so you do it yourself, and somebody jumps in and builds stuff. No matter how many times I say "I'm jumping back in the hive, please don't build anything" it never helps. May aswell have just gone for a rapid expansion/upgrades and established early drifters...

Best thing to do is not take it too seriously though - lots of new players about. If somebody's purposefully trolling you then sure, jump in the other team or another server.

It's better to have people eager to command than having an entire server who doesn't want to.

I always explain in a direct and friendly voice that I will always get back into the Hivemind™ as an Alien Khammander, when I need to, for example when I am done gorging at the main hive or when I finished supporting my fellow skulks in an important attack/defense.
It has always worked perfectly well for me except for one time, when a micless other player entered the Hivemind™, while I was gorging around.
Man, did my team eject him fast! It only took several seconds and he was out. :D

I suppose, my alien friends liked me as their Khammander and Battlegorge™... at least most of the time. :)

This. Every server I joined past couple of days where we begin a new game, nearly all my games I was forced to command because NOBODY wants to command marines and waiting around for someone to decide "ok hur dur I'll try" just takes too long. Something really needs to be added that shows people are willing to command at the start at the game.
