A bot mode, and other change ideas

Hello, i am new to NS2 and am finding it very difficult to get into. I have a few suggestions to put forward.

1. The game is too based around the commander, if you have a bad commander then you are guaranteed to lose. I dont know how you would do it but it would be nice to see more power to the normal players so the team doesn't depend on having a good commander.

2. There needs to be an option to play against bots to practice. I get hammered on real servers and i hardly know where i am supposed to be going. It would be nice if you could play against some bots to get a feel for the game and learn the maps. It would be also good for learning commanding, which is my next point.

3. there is no way to learn how to command other than to be on a real server and have the prospect of having a whole team rage at you if you don't know what to do. This is why a bot mode would be nice.

4. The high tier player upgrades are almost an instant win. The game is really just whoever can get the big guns first wins. The mech is especially a problem because you cant even get near the darn thing. I think the big player upgrades need a significant nerf especially the mech because really as soon as a team gets the upgrades it is game over.

    1. The commander role is pretty much inherent to the game. There's no way to change that. Yes, bad commanders can lose you the game, but that's why everyone in the team can vote to eject the comm if really needed. Don't forget it also goes both ways, a really good commander can win you the game. Also, commanders tend to get criticised way too much. More often it's the players that will lose you the game, not the commander.

2 & 3. There are video tutorials to learn from before jumping in the seat, but I agree to some extent, a very basic bot mode for new players to get the basics of commanding down would definitely help.

    4. NS2 is a RTS game in it's core. So it's supposed to be a race for teching up first. The end game tech is there to give that extra punch for ending deadlocks. That being said, I personally think early and mid game goes by too quickly and would like to see some measures to delay the emergence of higher tech/onoses (higher costs/longer research times). But that's just me.
