3.0 GHz AMD Phenom II x4 (Deneb 945)
8GB DDR3 1333 RAM
nvidia GTX 275

For some reason, the people I know who run the game on older hardware aren't having any issues either - I've only heard complaints from people with newer setups, which really doesn't make sense.

It's hard to discuss performance without presenting graphs or other hard data. Especially people with old hardware often have "no issues" when a game is running at constant 30fps, which is just "barely playable" for those with higher end rigs. Some people claim they can run at a stable 60fps, without even realizing that it actually does dip to 30fps during the end game. Maybe they just monitored their FPS for a few minutes in the beginning of a game, and don't notice the drops for some reason without a FPS meter. I haven't found a post here where someone presents convincing evidence of running at stable 60fps even in end game. I'm thinking it's just impossible to get that kind of performance with any current hardware, but I'm eager to be proven wrong.

Well ima just monitoring every game my FPS with DXTory - actually even r_stats 1 takes tons of fps to show. it might shows alot more details overall but its not that way effectiv geting a lower amount of fps as usual just by using that command.

but in some fact i can just turn shadows off to get some more fps in different situations - changing the ambient occlussion just changes fps in ready room but NEVER ingame - same for all other graphical details even infestation.
Actually i would like to lower graphical details if it gets playable with a smart mousemovement, but everytime i change those it does not affect the fps in any positive way. graphicdetails can look like ###### much worse then the older natural selection and even runs on low fps xD

At lategame situations and huge fights its always "wating for renderthread" about 10 to 30 MS depens on how much is just happening

Im curious about your setup since it does not seem like it should be that slow. Can you try following the steps suggested for AMD users in other threads? Such as disabling core parking in windows, disable anti-virus, and run ns2.exe in high priority.

wow! holy ###### man thanks alot for that secret hint. since ive checked the taskmanager now its using all cores and not only 3 or even 4 and thats how it looks like:

http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/8587/disa...coreparking.jpg

since ive changed that ######y stuff and thanks again again and again my mouse is much more responsive (deathadder 3.5g) even on a 50 FPS battle and i do not get fps drops after i minimized the game - seems to reload the game much faster.

ive used google to check out some known issues and found stuff like this:

http://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-disab...parking-windows

ive installed the fix wich are a custom made since win###### microsoft stuff didnt worked as a fix and now they are not beeing parked and everything runs much smoother. gota post that into the performance fix topic.
need to try out some more rounds and how it does run with exos but in combat against 2 or 3 skulks my fps do not drop to 30 while they jump around me

Sweet! Glad to hear it! I was just as shocked as you when I first learned about core parking. WTF microsoft how are they going to do that crap by default? I knew something was messed up, that CPU should handle NS2 just as well as my 8 core.

This topic steered off lol. Yeah I dont have core parking on my Athlon II x4 640. It doesn't support core parking. So it shouldn't be the issue.
