Marines appear as only hands, face and gun

Recently acquired the game, no complaints at all other than this small technical issue:
Regardless of whether I'm playing as a marine or alien, most other marines appear as just a pair of floating hands, a gun and a face. Obviously makes it difficult to aim/kill them. I tried fiddling with the graphic settings, but not luck so far. Is this a common issue, or one that I can fix by changing the settings?

I have just bought the game and tried playing it, but am having a similar problem with the marine models. They appear with no animations, just standing and floating around, with their arms outstretched to the left and right (like a default pose or something).
Tried changing settings as well to no avail. Any help? Kinda makes the game unplayable as I cant take it seriously
