<div class="IPBDescription">...a new marine structure</div>Aliens are waiting on some updates, such as Gorge abilities like babblers, tunnel, etc. What are Marines waiting for? A new exo gun upgrade?
I have thought of a structure that could be added to marines which would complement gameplay and not simply be a new offensive ability/structure (such as a new gun or battery for phasegate ninjas).
The Nanowall is actually two structure which create a barrier between them (with a graphical effect like the phase gate). There would be a limit to how far apart the connections can be, and thought they could cost somewhere in the vacinity of 10 res each (thus 20 res for a completed wall), and of course limit each sector to one functioning wall. The barrier does not do damage, but simply denies aliens and their projectiles to pass through, and conversely allow marines and their projectiles through. Thus it could be used to deny an onos entrance into a base, but could be bile bombed quite easily or skulked/lerked/faded from the inside. If either of the two wall connections goes down, the wall ceases to exist. I am imagining the thing would be limited to being the width of the average entrance/exit to a room, and not stretching across great expanses.
Why is nanowall a useful addition to the game? Well, already marines attempt to block passages into their base using things like armories or robotics labs, I thought why not have a structure which is made for such a purpose?
Along with this, nanowall can be used in many different ways aside from simply blocking a passageway and could compliment defensive/offensive strategies.
Please discuss and feel happy to rip it apart.

Skulks could sneak around through the vents and kill the power, shutting off the wall.
Really? I thought UWE said that they add only weldable doors. But i would be glad if they add that also for vents.
No they never stated anything about weldable vents afaik.
But maybe he knows something I don't.
Hmm.. I will concede I totally understand the OP nature of shooting through the wall, but I think it's at least something to consider as an upgrade or cost-activated ability. What I will not concede is the one-way nature of them (i.e. only marines to pass through), as I think it is a nifty asynchronous device. If this is removed all we are left with is a 'wall', and that role can quite happily be filled by the existing strategy of placing armories/robotics factories.
