Mic still not working

Hi folks,
I still can't get my mic to work.
It is a jack connection and it is plugged into the front panel slot of my Xonar DG audio card. Every other game works with this mic and the steam settings for VOICE also indicate it's working (I too can hear the echo when testing it). I suspect the signal just doesn't make it through some game internal error.
I know that some voices in game tend to be a little quite, but I regularly ask (and text) if anyone can hear me without positive responses. All sliders for output volume are maxed (ingame, steam and windows). The device is listed as standart communication device in Win7 64bit settings (I believe it is, can't check atm).
Please help me fix this issue, especially now, with the many new players I'd like to be able to voice some advice and critical information in a more convenient manner than texting all the time.
Much appreciated!

I tested it with sound recorder then and it was working fine.http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showtopic=126273#
EDIT: I turned the mic level up lots and it works now.
My incredible stupor just needed to take a little break, just long enough to let me figure out what was wrong. In the in-game menu's options --> bindings the microphone key was set to Q, which is also my medpack request button. I just wasn't aware and maybe overlooked or didn't look at all, that there was a binding in-game. I thought it was done through the steam overlay, but it appears to have no effect whatsoever on the actual binding.
Anyway, sorry for wasting your time.
