Does Flame-thrower need a weakness ?

Great on infestation structures. great on hydras. Remove clogs very well. Sap energy from aliens. Remove spore clouds etc.
Ok so they fire a little slower than other weapons and have a more limited range but essentially their counterpart grenade launhcers have two counters in the form of Whips which can throw grenades back and clog walls which are more resistant to explosive damage.
So does there need to be some kind of rebalance on flamethrowers to make them less universally useful than grenade launchers ?
