Separate audio options

Hi, I'm new to the forums. I've been really enjoying NS2 so far since release and think the devs did a great job, and continue to do so. I did find one thing a little aggravating though so I thought I'd make a suggestion here.

I've noticed both the game audio and mic volume (from other people) are controlled with the same slider. Were you guys going to add a separate slider for each? It's just it can be hard to clearly hear what people are saying on the mic by not being able to turn the game volume down.

Anyway, thanks and hope you will consider this.

Not sure if this is a feature or what, but competitively, we usually adjust the volume so that we can actually hear each other, in ns2 this is frustratingly hard, so we end up on vent which can output separately to headphones and leave the game volume on speakers quieter.

I agree, especially if you can make it to adjust individual players mic volumes.

I would love to be able to bind a key to increase/decrease voice volume. Separate volume sliders would be nice, and gives more control (as to quieten loud mics, and louden quiet mics). Though, as long as I can change voice volume in game, I can adjust on the go such that the quietest mic is only just loud enough to hear (such that the louder mics don't become deafeningly loud). It's too annoying to go back into the menu to do it, as it can require a lot of fine tuning (i.e. so you don't overcomensate, making loud mics too loud, or undercompensate by making quiet mics not loud enough). Often you need to hear what somebody's saying right away cause you're commander, and the time you spend in the menu fiddling with volume settings might mean a missed ninja phase gate, or a missed beacon on a base rush. Or if you're not commander and instead just a marine/alien on the field, you might just die while you're in the menu.

    This needs to happen.

On the other hand though, there are players like me who utilize gameplay options and graphical settings to enhance my ability to play better.

IE. I have infestation set to minimal, not because it is detrimental to my FPS, but because it makes it easier to see both as a Marine and a Skulk.

Another example is of the three volume sliders we currently have; I have the music one turned down entirely. It can get in the way of me hearing key elements of the game, during a heated moment when the music is spiking up. If I had the option to, I would mute ambient sounds, such as that ever so annoying and loud blast furnace on ns2_refinery in Smelting.
