Started this in kyoto about a month ago and continued working on it while travelling down the Australian eastcoast and just finished it in a small guesthouse in the tarra bulga national park / victoria.

Interesting idea. Most of the maps are indoors so it's cool to see how people imagine surrounding areas. :) I hope you enjoyed your travels and will get your NS2 fix soon. :D A lot have changed in 6 months.

Nice pic, Tschoppo. I really like that idea of a barren rocky planet surface, but with this green, lush, alien infested underground right below.

Thanks guys, really appreciate your comments.

There wasn't much planning involved for this piece,
so the "concept" thats shown here is just me painting what i like to paint.

I did a lot of thinking about the Kharaa and their Homeworld afterwards,
how it affected them and how they affected it.

My favorite theory is that the planet must have been very much like earth to allow the existence of life that is not too dissimilar from the living creatures on earth.
With the appearance of the Kharaa, not unlike the human population, they have taken full control of their Homeplanet as every organism either symbioses with or vanishes.
The Kharaa seem to be adapted for a life of fight over territory,
my conclusion is that only close related hives are allied but steadily fighting other hives for territory.
The steady fighting combined with the viruses ability to genetically manipulate its hosts has created a biological
    arms race on planetary scale.

I've just got no clue at the moment how to paint that ^^

Actually, an awesome idea. I would love to see some vertical movement in the game.

You could do a Blacks vs Reds type thing like the Aliens comics, have a huge war between aliens and have the humans just watching in total amazement
