"Client and server differ" error

I already have tried:
-to validate ns2 cache files
-to delete local game content and installed it again
-to change download region in "Download+Clouds" settings

I had this problem after an update from NS2. Most of the servers wouldn't let me join till they updated. It also happened when i joined my own dedicated server until i updated it via steamcmd. Once all the servers and also my server were updated it aloud me to join. If this is still going on i would suggest disabling the steam cloud and re-install ns2. could be a file that needs changed to be re-downloaded instead of letting steam cloud install it from last known settings

Deactivate the current mods you have activated in the mods menu.

Mhm strange I have now the same problem, caused by joining a server which is running 2 different mods, strange.
(was combat and DAK Admin together)

I am also having this problem; I already tried uninstalling and re-installing the game, to no avail. I have no mods installed at all either.

Can you check the console and see what it says?

You can also get information from the log file:

"%APPDATA%\Natural Selection 2"

log.txt

If NS2 is running open it and it should have the current console text.

Hm, the console says "Error: File 'game_setup.xml' failed consistency check!"

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

EDIT: Never mind, never mind, found the problem, the game still had a line added in the "Launch Options" that shouldn't be there.

It was one to launch a bot mod that I downloaded a while ago and fogot about.
