Looks fine to me (better than fine!). There is enough color beyond that short corridor to keep it from feeling <i>too</i> red.
Just as reference, you can experiment with different env_gamma values without having to recompile. Just type setgamma X.X in the console, where X.X is any number between 1.0 and 2.0.
Ah thanks Relic! I had wondered if there was a command, since I was pretty sure the env_gamma effect was entirely post-compile. I'm running a little shy of 1.7 and adjusted my lighting to fit, and I'm very happy with the results.
As for the red room - it isn't nearly the same now. Once I finished the doors at the end of the room light flows in from the adjacent room (not pictured). That and the utility lighting from the shuttle will change things even more.
There is also a steam jet or two that have yet to be added.
They are gone - I wasn't happy with them either. Rather than add brushes to make them stand out, I eliminated that texture and used 2 brushes to improve the area around the computer. (Note the change in the window.)

Looks great! I can't say it has the same structurally detailed look as before though. And the lighting could probably use some more work overall. Just to make it look less bland and constant, you could add some spiffy white (spot) lights runnning up or down a wall or two.
That computer console is really kickin though! Am I right to assume that the light follows the bar down? If not, take that as a hint... <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->
-Edit- On second look, the lighting doesn't look bad at all to me. The second batch there is much nicer in that department... must have had the old ones in my mind.
I gave the light a candle appearance. It isn't as nice as a moving light, which I have no immediate clue how I'd do. However, if you're not paying close attention, the candle-like flicker sells.
I may look into a moving light, but where I discovered there is no player model when someone is using the terminal, I'm not going to fuss over that area too much.
As for the structure... I intended to contrast from the shuttle to the station in both lighting technique and geometry. However while I think I've accomplished that in the current build (no screens yet), I'm having second thoughts.
The space station is shaping up to be a whole lotta "bleh!"

On approach:
Adding crates to the room.
Placement of resource node.
