"Client and Server differ" with no mods installed

I'm getting a "client and server differ" error on every server I try, even the UWE servers, but I have no mods installed at all. What gives?

    1. Right click on Natural Selection 2
    2. Go to properties
    3. Forget which tab...but one has an option to verify game client blahblahblah


    This fixed the issue you are having for me.
