I Was A Very Very Bad Boy... (cloak Bug)

but holy shamole was it ever fun!
OK, had a good match going, except our gorge decided to make sensory chambers early on. Ugh. It was fun surpring marines for a while as skulk, but they were slowly pushing us back. We got a second hive up (got carapace) and things were going along well. As the third hive was going up, some sneaky marines set up siege on the second hive. damn damn damn

By this time I was a fade and had cloaking, some other people took out the sieges, but not before the siege took out all three of our sensory chambers and the hive (I was off defending our old hive which was also under attack). Long story short, I was cloaked when the sensory chambers and hive went poof. When I started moving, the cloak didn't drop, it stayed permanently.

At first I was ready to kill myself, but like I said, I was a bad bad boy. I couldn't resist. The dark side was simply too strong a pull for me, and I slashed a few marines in the dark. I'm sure they thought I was just circle strafing behind them so that they never saw me, as none of them complained.

Suddenly, I see I have 70 resources... Should I? I know it would be mean to be a permacloaked Ohno, I know I shouldn't, it would be very very bad of me. Yet, before I knew it I right clicked, watched my cursor float to the top of the screen, and before long I was a big cloaked cow.

Now, it was just tooooo much fun. I'd let marines run past me, then I'd paralyze them in the back. As they'd stop in their tracks, I could see the sweat dripping off them as they realised they'd soon be dead. But I toyed with them, letting paralyze wear off.

Maybe they just stumbled they thought? Maybe they got stuck on something? Then I'd paralyze them again, and the fear would grow in them. After a while, I'd approach and give 'em a little nibble... let 'em know I'm there.

My team had more or less already won (we got our third hive and everyone else was an Ohno anyways), but still, I did something I shouldn't have. Do I feel sorry? A little... but do I regret it, probably not

Anyways, it would be a good idea to fix it, I'm sure I made the marines sad (even though they felt the need to fight us 7 on 4-5 for most of the game).

Ravlen (still grinning)

hmmm... i've had that happen to me... but its always been in a losing game... i nver knew what caused it, it happened when i left the game on, cloaked in a corner, i would come back some time after the hives being destroyed, and i would have perma cloak then... i just assumed it was a glitch after being still so long i was perma cloaked, but i guess i know what happened now... this bug should be fixed, but doesn't seem to occur very often in the game... so you were perma cloacked as a level tree onos... tahts amazing

All your sensors tower in ONE hive??? Your teammates needs to know how to play :/ if they're even going to build sensors 1st.. they don't even use them correctly???

I'm pretty sure that's not a bug. It's supposed to stay like that until you die, then you can't upgrade again.

Yeah, the guy that did it was **obscenity** at me, I asked for defense chambers, so he put up sensory :\

And it MUST be a bug. Do you really think Permacloacked Fades/ Ohno's are fair to the marines? I'm talking permanent, when you move, you are still cloaked. You are completely invisible until you die.

Cloaking is supposed to stop when you move. So yes, it IS a bug.

Also, 7v5 is NOT uneven teams in NS. (some ppl might argue but this is what I believe.)

The only problem with that is, perma-cloak is not affected by scanner sweep, heh.

Although perma-cloak sounds quite enjoyable from the alien side of thigns, I have to say this rather unfair. Imagine being a gorge and having structures and webs appear out of the air!

Oh dear god I borked that post..

The correct meaning: Although perma-cloak appears enjoyable I believe it is unfair to do this. Example of this happening: You evolve into a gorge and marines can suddenly see skulks spawning and weapons appears out of nothingness.

    That clear it up?

lol, i love to get to unreachable places and become a gorge... then drop offence chambers out of thin air and the marines would be freaked out

but for web, man, i couldn't tell you how many times i've owned a single Heavy Armor guy with just a gorge, singlehandedly, 1 on 1 webbing is like the best thing there is...

I was perma cloaked as a gorge once, cept our team lost and I was the last one alive. I took out a heavy armor marine, but eventually random spraying from the 5 others got me

I uncovered this when test playing on a local lan. It isn't a true cloak. The opposing players can't see you, but their turrets can. So it is fun to annoy the players, but you can't use it to take out turret factories.

I think we should stop posting to this thread and let it die. Now that we know of the exploit, and hopefully the dev team does too, we should not bring it to the attention of lamers who will try to do this on purpose.

I have already contacted the moderators with the request to have this thread removed for this reason.

Kudos to those who reported the bug and did not keep it to themselves for their own advantage.

Flayra has stated that this is fixed in v1.03. And on that note...
