<div class="IPBDescription">To prevent a split community</div>Please PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE UnknownWorlds do this:

In games like Left4Dead 2, Counter-strike, TF2, etc. One of the biggest problems is the way they integrate community made maps... which is, they pretty much don't, they leave it to the players to add custom maps to their crappy custom server that runs way too many mods and ruins the experience of the game.

Right now there are 6 maps, which just isn't enough. Sometimes in 1 night I'll end up playing for 3 hours, but it will be literally on 2 maps. don't get me wrong, each map is really amazing and I love them all which is really good.

Now my suggestions is, and I know there hasn't been a chance for this yet but, when the community starts to produce high-quality custom maps (or old maps from NS 1) then PLEASE, PLeASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take the best ones and put them into patches. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So say someone releases ns_eclipse. If it's missing some key features, or you don't think its balanced enough, please take the time to contact the person who made the map and perhaps suggest to them what it is missing in order to be released as a map that can be found on all servers. Or ask for the file so you can change it yourselves.

This will prevent players having to sift through tons of garbage, it will also prevent the worst thing that could happen to this community, the small player base being split between servers that have custom content and servers that don't.

It will keep players that want to play the vanilla form of NS2 happy when you add high-quality custom maps, without them having to play them on custom servers that have annoying mods, and other crappy custom maps you get stuck on.

TL:DR;

Please when high-quality custom maps are released, bundle them into a patch.

    UWE have always done this in the past, so I don't see why they wouldn't.

    True.

    I think someone redid ns_nancy for NS1, and UWE took it in.

    bast and nancy, both of which the source was lost. Good thing Spark maps are open source and no compiling is required, both things are good stuff :P

    High quality community maps now included as official content:

    ns2_summit; ns2_veil

    It has happened and will continue if the maps are good enough

    I didn't realize people saw this as a problem for UWE. While they pump out their own maps, 2 of my favorites are actually community maps: veil and summit. And I'm almost positive (98% sure) that any other map takes cues from the community of problems. Refinery now probably won't look the same as Refinery in a couple months. Summit and Tram have seen some pretty good changes, and Mineshaft is completely redone from where it was. Map cooperation with UWE will not be a problem.

    As above, this is already something they're doing as much as possible, and I'm sure it will increase as the community gets more familiar with spark. Having said that, I do agree, more official maps is pretty much at the top of my wishlist.
