Minimap for aliens

It makes zero sense to NOT have a minimap for alien players when they can just view the full map at any moment. Getting really tired of my screen being filled with a huge map any time I am trying to navigate the level.

This game is plenty asymmetric as it stands, removing alien minimap is just annoying.

Also, it makes it difficult to learn your way around the level based on what you see, since your focus is on the map instead of the level itself when traveling.

    Yueh I would like a minimap for aliens also.

    Marines have a small map, but I also hold my full map open quite a bit - probably just as much as with aliens. So I don't think a minimap for aliens would really make much of a difference.

    The idea with minimap(s) is that Aliens are meant to be more guerilla/all-in/rush/hit-and-run than marines who are supposed to be more about positioning or something, idk. I think for aliens actually a huge improvement would be to be able to see each other through the walls if you're nearby (to simulate something like a "hive mind" or "telepathy" or something), so you can sync attacks that way instead of looking at a minimap.

    I actually think having a mini-map is even more important for learning maps as the Kahraa. When you are trying to learn all the shortcuts and what vents go where I'm constantly holding down the C button.


    If they wanted to make the Kahraa truly asymmetrical, they needed to provide an alternative to navigation instead of a mini-map. To me it feels like they wanted to...but never thought of one. They removed the mini-map, didn't give them some kind of replacement, but then left the regular full map in because it would be impossible to learn maps otherwise. Just enable the mini-map and call it a day.

    This was in ns1 and it worked great. You had wallhack-like sprites showing allies position and they turned orange/red when they were being attacked. I'm pretty sure it was map-wide too. I think it also showed hive positions too.

    Map-wide would be kind of too much overlay I think. If it's limited to adjacent rooms it would probably work best imo.

    P.S. Wait, I guess this is already in the game? I could've sworn I couldn't see teammates before for some reason. D: OK, disregard, seeing teammates through walls seems to already be in lol (and I look dumb).

    It is a good idea, but seeing friends through walls does not assist with navigating the map. A good counter argument for alien minimap does not really exist.

    I also have noticed this but Im not sure if it is always enabled and map wide or what.
