Demo Version

Hi,

I'm searching a demo Version of NS2, because I don't want to buy a pig in a poke. I've searched about an hour on google about a demo version of NS2 but i don't finde anything about it.

Is there a demo Version planed for NS2? Or is there any chance to test the game before I buy it?

kind regards,
Zeitdieb

Not currently, hopefully the developers come up with something soon.

How would you make a demo out of Counter-Strike? Knife only?

NS2 doesn't have a singleplayer, so it's hard to make a demo that doesn't give you a gimped picture of the whole game.

Just go watch some videos on YouTube. :)

Steam Free weekends would be ideal for this...

Playing CS with a knife is actually a pretty accurate representation of playing a skulk :D

Except in terms of map design. Skulks need a Sgun is that what you're implying here :P

Go play NS1 and imagine it with more stuff, better graphics, and slightly slower movement? Oh yeah, and WAY higher system requirements.

Do it like Quake Wars and release a complete version of the game with only 1 map. Bolsters playerbase and can give potential buyers a complete picture of the game over the course of several hours/days and not just a gimped weekend where all you do is get roflstomped as alien. Though I highly recommend a more intuitive tutorial system before implenting this type of demo as the whole youtube things is rather meh.

Yeah there's still no no-nonsense tutorial that just explains the basics, no introductions, no opinions, no advanced stuff, no trivial stuff, just the core in a 1min video. Subtitled.

Problem with this is that a lot of people are happy just playing their free game with that one map. I think a free weekend is better, it's good for generating word of mouth buzz. People who can't have fun and want to play more in the first two days shouldn't buy the game anyway.
