No option on startup

this is what i get when i start up NS2...happen only yesterday
was working completely fine since 31th oct.
the only way i get to play is when my friend joins a server and i join him via steam friend>join game.
my console <img src="http://i.imgur.com/9tm2G.jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" />
already reinstalled twice and still the same
tried deleting lua/ui and verify cache too
when in game, i can't press esc because each time i press
the screen just gets darker and darker and by the 5th press, it's totally black with boxes all over and then it crashes saying auth fail

editing options fixed it
