Idea: Marine Tech: Gas Mask

Something that reduces/removes damage taken by Lerk gas. Nothing is more aggravating than spawning in your infantry portal into a cloud of gas and dying instantly because it deasl tons of damage, and in those close quarter areas that get double gassed, marines have no chance and just melt. Something along the lines of:

-Purchasable at Armory or Prototype Lab
-Cheap, something like 5-10 resources.
-Possibly drops on death? If that would make it too good, then it can just disappear, but then it should definitely be 5 resources.

The idea is that it's not something like weapon tech that every marine permanently gets, and for those who wish to have it, it's available. It should probably be cheap and fast to tech as well, so that people don't just avoid it entirely. Thoughts?

    This is available.

    It's called an EXO and/or JP... the gas doesn't fill the whole room/hallway (unless it's a small one) so you just have to keep to sides fly above and/or have an EXO suit.


    If the gas is killing you in spawn, your team is doing a bad job.
    That and if you are dying from spawning, you can't actually purchase the gas mask to survive anyway as well... you are dying instantly.

    Also, 5 pres to purchase a counter to a 30 pres lifeform's researched attack seems a little on the imbalanced side.

    Maybe 15, from a Proto Lab. That might be fair. Of course, for that, you could probably just grab a flamethrower and clear out all the gas, saving yourself, your teammates, and maybe having a chance at killing the Lerk. (Or at least making it bug out.)

    Excellent, so the skulk is useless when put up against a marine who actually has the ability to aim, the lerk is useless because spores are now useless, the fade is useless because it dies against 1 marine with a level 3 shotgun and armor (really worth the 50 res that thing is), only thing left is the onos.

    Not enough gas attacks to warrant this. Maybe if umbra, healspray, and crag heal wave did moderate to low gas damage as well.

    Lerk still has spikes and bite.
    Gas would still block vision.
    Thats hardly a hard counter...
