Server Browser

i LOVE NS2. I've been playing since the original NS1. Game is excellent and i enjoy playing it everyday. My only suggestion
is for the Server Browser. Its missing a few features that are standard in pretty much all other games that use the internet.
If there could be a favorites tab and a history tab, it would make it a lot easier to rejoin matches you've been disconnected from
or remember your favorite servers to play on. Also it gets annoying to have to repopulate the server browser everytime
you try to connect to a server that appears to have available slots but is full. If these issues could be addressed in the future,
it would greatly improve the game in my opinion.

I agree with this, at the moment it's usually random if I find a server I enjoyed playing on before. Some way to add to favourites whilst you're in the server would be helpful (may have been blind so far and missed it).

Another suggestion is to integrate more into steamworks, so we can use that server browser to organise favourites and check servers without loading up the game. Not sure how hard that is but as we can already see our friends games server info via Steam and "auto-join" from that, it just seems odd that we can't search the whole server list via Steam.

The Server browser really need a list for favorite servers that always will be there..
Right now you do not even know what favorite servers you have until you refresh the browser and they are found again ^^
Pretty lame to wait for favorite servers to show up in the list heh..

The server browser needs a lot of work. I don't think there's a need for a History tab, but a Favourites tab would be very useful as people become acquanted with the servers, and is practically a standard feature of all server browsers. It would be nice if the scrollers at the top allowed for users to enter a number rather than rely on the crude scroller which skips numbers.

You can use "retry" in console to rejoin the server.

You can also try <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/forums/index.php?showtopic=120313" target="_blank">this</a> community made server browser

Not just the server browser, but the entire menu system in general is unimaginative and needs a lot of work. I think there should be some sort of "Community" section in the game that features new mods, twitter feeds, etc to engage people who don't bother going to the website or checking forums in new information and community created content (which will be very and increasingly prevalent in NS2).

There are a lot of smaller issues that I imagine will be solved over time. A lot of the buttons offer no feedback when clicked, so one doesn't really get the impression that anything happened. This is particularly noticable on the 'Apply' button in the options menu. Normally there would be a popup saying that the changes have been made or something to that effect. But when you click the button there isn't even so much as a blip sound to let you know that the button was activated. The Options menu is also missing many key bindings and options that people would likely want to change.

Finally I think the background could be a lot more interesting. If it's going to be a in game redered scene like it is with the hallway and pipes, there should be intermittent action that occurs in the room in the background, like marines running past the opening from one side to the other. Then after 10 seconds or so a skulk walks on the ceiling from behind the camera into that room and around the corner, and so on.

+1. I prefer alot more the default Valve one (I know; not the same engine...)

    Misses "non-locked" games...

OR you could use the steam browser instead.

    1. start ns2
    2. Alt-Tab
    3. Start Steamserver browser
    4. Search/Favo Game

The sweet thing here is the autologin works like a charm because when the game is already running i connects in the background while you are on the desktop and do stuff when you tab back in game you are on the server.
