The timeliness of ns depends on it
I listen to internet radio all day, every day. It helps me concentrate on NS. I don't want to lose it! I'm going to be writing a letter to the Massachusetts senators, urging them not to let the RIAA shut down internet radio. If anyone else wants to help, here's a great resource:

Bah, what a stupid idea! Making them pay excessive amounts for the music is just stupoid, if you want to makr them pay, make it a price where they will actually pay. If you charge too much, you will get no money period as no interrnet radio places will pay. If they set a reasonable price, then they would actually get ome revenue.

But the whole idea is just a stupid, it's like the RIAA is trying to get back at napster type people

Hmmmm. Sounds like a lot of work. What makes Internet radio so nifty? I can already download live newscasts of the storys I want, or just turn on NPR or CSPAN. I dont get it....

You know, I sometimes get to think that there are tides of stupidity. It's nice and quite for a while, and then the dumbskulls of RIAA & co decide that the peoples have too much liberties.

I'd like to support this, only that your senators won't be very intimidated by the opinion of a 17 years old German

Besides, we've got our own idiots over here: They honestly want to disable all internetporn or other stuff that may harm children from 7 to 23 o' clock middle european time.
I am not joking.

This is more than just internet news radio. It's also online streaming audio radio stations. Admittedly, though, I don't listen to much radio (I prefer to listen to selections from what I own) but when I do listen to the radio, it's usually Internet streaming radio. Variety is the spice of life .

GAH, people just need to wake up and realize that file sharing is never gonna stop.

What I don't understand is why they are going after Internet Radio?? What the hell is their problem? Shut down KaZaA if they want music piracy to stop. Internet radio isn't piracy, its pretty legit compared to file sharing services. It is sooo stupid how they go after something when they leave other things that are worse alone.

Their argument is that traditional radio stations have to pay X amount for each song they play, so the music industry suits want their cut for internet broadcasts of songs too. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be a big deal, but the said suits want this to be retroactive, meaning that the internet stations would have to pay an absurb amount of money for an estimation of every song they have played in the past. This would result in HUGE sums of money, and is why most internet radio stations would simply fold rather than pay this.

I listen to Rhapsody (formerly ListenRadio) all day long almost every day at work. It's going to suck if this happens, since there isn't a single decent radio station that broadcasts near where I live.

Sigh... There's always the jerks that want to spoil the party. I need internet radio to keep me awake when I pull all-nighters. I can't listen to my collection or mainstream pop culture music when I need to concentrate, and I can't find any good stations on the real radio. So I turn to internet radio. It's the only place I know of where I can find good classical music streams and small and experimental no-name artist streams. Maybe my stations wouldn't be affected as much, or maybe they would. Still, it's the principle. I hate the RIAA. I haven't bought a CD in over 2 years (not that I would have bought one anyway, but whatever).

Well the only radio I listen to is bbc worldservice, and only when i go to sleep (can't sleep without my shot of bbc worldservice ). But that station rarely broadcasts music, and when they do it's african music or classical or underground and i like it that way. If I want to lsiten to music I just slide a cd i bought in my cdplayer. So altho I never listen to i-net radio, I'm not in favour of making them pay those huge amounts of money, but I can see why they should pay some money for broadcasting songs, why make them pay for the songs they already have, I don't think i-net radios make that much money so it would kill a lot of those stations. BTw Flayra I didn't check your link, but there was a petition once on a site, I signed it, dunno if it's on that site or not.....

the big music companies are all about greed and money. musicians are all about music. i have been exposed to many bands and artists through internet radio and napster which have ultimately led to me buying their stuff or otherwise endorsing them.
producing music is not as rewarding as some might think. i encourage you to tell the big fascist companies to #### off and support internet radio, independant radio, local/indie music or whatever you can to help preserve the freedom of the valuable resource of music.
*end speech*
oh yeah, and if monkey radio gets shut down im sure the release date will be delated by months. so click that link!

impotent fools, RIAA

These people just don't realize that it's this internet radio/file sharing that makes them more popular. How many of you know that CD Sales went up by 44% when napster was created!? Ever since file sharing was invented the music industry has steadily been growing and growing, yet they claim that piracy is taking away their money! But of course, all they think about is money money money, and they'll do the stupidest things to make more money, but it often ends up in less money being made, or the same situation popping up again a month later. Like Napster. THey got rid of it, all of a sudden KaZaA and Morpheus pop up. They can't get rid of this stuff, but they'll go as far as they can to get rid of it.

Even if internet radio is shut down, I'm almost certian something will replace it soon enough.

These are the same people who vote for nuking the whales, clubbing baby seals, EXTERMINATING THE ####### WILD HORSES OF AMERICA FOR SOME ####### RANCHERS TO VOTE FOR THEM, AND ####### REFUSING TO MAKE THE TIMBERWOLF A PROTECTED SPECIES, EVEN THOUGH IT"S NEARLY ####### EXTINCT!

In other words, these are the people that end up being shot by green peace activist who finally gets the right idea.

Here's my new motto:
