Make Some Alien Abilities Chargeable

The base concept behind a chargeable ability would be that the longer you held down fire, the more energy you consume and the more powerful your attack will become when you release it. This would allow you to unleash stronger attacks when you need to, but it would also have the risk that if you over-charge an attack, it would deplete all of your energy when it's fired. Which isn't something you want to do in the middle of a battlefield
I'm not suggesting that every alien ability becomes chargeable, but it could work for some of them:
<b>Bile Bomb:</b> As it's charged, the amount of damage over time increases
<b>Stomp:</b> As it's charged, the area of effect increases
<b>Umbra:</b> As it's charged, the duration of the cloud increases
<b>Vortex:</b> As it's charged, the area of effect increases
<b>Xenocide:</b> As it's charged, the damage done and the area of effect increases
I'm not suggesting that every alien ability becomes chargeable, but it could work for some of them:
