Weldable points and endgames

So we got that situation that endgames always take most of the game cause the team, while having 4/5 claimed on the map, doesnt man up to initiate a deathblow.
There needs to be a "KILL EVERYONE NOW" style feature at the end.. While weldables are promised if im right, why not make some huge map-changing effect if a team controls 4/5 of the map over a long enough period of time? This could either be for marines to weld 3 specific points on the map that can only be done when the techpoints are claimed and the welding will initiate a total meltdown of the area where the kharaa threat is holding out? Same for the other team in another manner. I wouldnt mind a mutant out of 3 onoses either. Anymore ideas?
