How can I show my server on server list?

JalenJalen Join Date: 2012-11-02 Member: 165797Members
I set up a dedicated server for several days, but I can't see my server on server list.

I can use console "/connect IP" to connect and others people can too.

My server is under a NAT and I open port forwarding with UDP 8766 27015~27020.

Is there any port that I should open for show server on server list?

I set my server to be public static ip, not under NAT.

But I still can't search my server on serverlist.

only can use console "connect" to connect.

Hm - Okay - I tried giving my server a static public IP, and it made it show up in the serverlist, but maybe its a coincedence.

How do you run your server? Windows machine? Firewall disabled or holes punched in it?

I run my server with Windows Server 2012, Firewall disabled.

    and here is my shortcut.

Server.exe -name "[TW] Taiwan NS2 Test Server" -ip 140.128.101.26 -port 27015 -limit 18 -webadmin -webport 8000 -webuser "XXXX" -webpassword "XXXXX"

You need to have opened the port of your server and the next one (port +1) in the firewall.
In your case 27015 and 27016.

    Firewall is already disabled.

I can see your server using hlsw in 140.128.101.26:27016, it should be visible in the game browser.
    It is a little strange.

considering you have your firewall disabled I'm not sure this will help but check out this post just in case:

My server is the same. Nanogrid picks it up (gorgeous gorge) but server browser does not.

tried all sorts. I suspect it may well be another listen port other than 27015/27016 similar to how TF2 does the same. I do run mine behind another forwarded firewall but I was only getting netbios traffic in the logs. Taken the server down for the time being until I get it nailed.

    success.

-webdomain doesnt just seem to sort out the domain of the web interface but also the visibility of the server. I know that the server can be joined via connect but it never seemed to be listed. Removed webdomain (so only 127.0.0.1 management) and voila! it appeared in the server browser.

in my case, I don't use webdomain. Actually I del all variable....only this left.

"C:\ns2server\Server.exe -name "[TW] Taiwan NS2 Test Server" -limit 18"

but I still don't know why there doesn't show on server list...........

maybe I need to give up?....

Jalen, is your server connected to the internet directly or through a router? If it is the latter, you need to forward those ports to your server as well.

    directly to internet

Actually, NS2 update to 229 today. My server update to 229 too. I can see my server on server list.

    Maybe Unknownworlds fixed this problem..........

    thanks everyone
