I find the bright red of emergency lighting really intense and infestation has much more yellow/green glow compared to NS1 which is also very strong. The blue blink effect you get as fade is another strong effect and can mess with your eyes if you tap right mouse too fast. Even alien vision is quite strong (the orange highlights).

I think some of the alien colours effects could be mellowed out a bit to make alien more pleasant to play.
