<div class="IPBDescription">Would be nice.</div>As the title says, I think it would be great to add the ability for servers to set slots reserved for spectators only.
Sometimes I just want to watch a match, but I know that by me doing so, the teams would be unbalanced.

Also, adding spectator slots would encourage other people to watch, and thereby learn how the game is played. Just a suggestion.

I don't know if/where else this has been mentioned, but your post was the simplest to find. It is essential to have dedicated spectator slots. It makes no sense at all to have a spectator be taking up a player slot. No sense. I feel bad when global chat is asking if "we can kick the spectator?" (me). I'm simply using the current in-built functionality of the game. So sue me? Also, slightly related, there need to be more 12-man servers. And that's 12 players, with additional slots for spectators. How many spectators and players can a sever handle? I've no idea, but if there are 24-man servers all over the place, I don't see why that couldn't be 12 players, with 12 reserved spectator slots, instead. There should be a global limit as to how many people can be in the ready room, say 24 for example, then a limit on number of players in-game, say 12, leaving 12 people left to do what they want in the RR. Either chat amongst themselves, waiting for the next match, or hop into spectator. RR should have their own chat. Spectators should have their own chat. But still everyone should be able to see what players say in global chat (All). That connects some of the action with the observers or ready room folks. It all seems pretty straightforward and sensible to me.

Look, I could go on. Dedicated spectator slots need to happen. I don't understand why it doesn't already exist, since it's such an e-sport orientated game. I'm baffled. Please make it happen soon. I don't need to explain the benefits of spectatorship. It's a good thing. It needs what it deserves.
